Luray Car & Carriage Museum
Visit the famous Luray Caverns In Virginia and you can also tour the Luray Car & Carriage Museum
for free with your admission ticket. The Luray Car & Carriage Museum features exhibits that showcase transportation including a display of
authentically restored cars, carriages, coaches, and costumes that date back to 1725! Most exhibits range in date from 1725 to 1941.
The shining centerpiece of the museum is a 1892 fully restored Benz, one of the oldest of its kind in the country that is still in operation. Other main features of the museum include a Conestoga Wagon, a 1908 Baker Electric Car, a 1913 Stanley Steamer, and Rudolph Valentino's 1925 Rolls Royce.
The vast and esteemed collection housed in the Luray Car & Carriage Museum was assembled by H.T.N Graves, the President of the Luray Caverns Corporation. In the 1950's, Graves became excited and fascinated by antique cars and other early forms of transportation.
He began efforts to acquire a museum quality collection.
Today, visitors delight in touring the museum, which
opens at 9 a.m. and closes approximately an hour and a half prior to the last tour of the caverns.
